VR Stage 3 Suspension Package Porsche 996C2 99-04 description
Some people who do strictly daily driving with an occasional spirited drive would like improved handling with the comfort of a soft ride. Having personally run these on our past 996C2 Supercharged Project Car, the Bilstein PSS9 are definitely the way to go. The PSS9 offer adjustable ride height, 9 way adjustable dampening, and much improved handling over the stock suspension. The coilovers ride very smooth on the street and absorb bumps quite well. Hit the open Highway and you are glued to the pavement. The PSS9 allow for adjustment from the stock ride height to almost a 2 inch drop. To further enhance the suspension and eliminate the stock understeer that is prominent with the 996C2, we added the GT3 Front and Rear Sway Bars. The big advantage besides being a factory Porsche part, is that the GT3 sway bars are hollow and very lightweight. Improving the rigidity of the car, the sway bars keep the balance in turns very neutral when setup correctly. The front bar has 5 holes for adjustment and the rear has 4 holes. Because this is a street car, we recommend to set the rear on the 2nd hole from stiff and the front in the middle. This would give the car more oversteer and better for around town driving. To use the GT3 sway bars on the 996C2, you MUST change the front sway bar links out. The stock sway bar links are to long. Agency Power has these front adjustable sway bar links designed specifically for the 996C2 with GT3 Sway Bars. The sway bar links feature 3 piece teflon lined spherical rod ends and a beefy CNC machined aluminum center turn buckle. The rear sway bar links will fit, however we decided to beef up the package and add the dog bone solid sway bar links from Agency Power in the rear as well. Once you have all the parts installed, it is required to get the car aligned. With a street car, doing a full corner balance is not necessary. Would it slightly improve the handling, yes, but to a street car, probably something that would not be noticed. So we advise a standard alignment to be done. You will be able to get the proper amount of camber and toe needed. Standard alignments can run about $125 where the corner balance race setups are $400 and up. The installation time is about 4-6 hours to complete the project.
